Slough Dolphin SC operates on the dedication, expertise, and passion of our volunteers. As a non-profit organization, we rely entirely on our members and parents to keep the club functioning at an elite level. Below is a breakdown of the critical roles that power our club.
Team Manager
As a Team Manager, you are the operational cornerstone on race days. Your primary responsibility is ensuring that our athletes are in the right place at the exactly right time during highly chaotic competitive environments.
You act as the buffer between the intense poolside environment and the parents in the spectator gallery, managing withdrawals, tracking heat sheets, and coordinating directly with the Head Coach.
Role Expectations- Availability during weekend open meets and inter-club league fixtures.
- Exceptional organizational skills and calm under pressure.
- A mandatory Swim England DBS check and Team Manager training module.
Gala Official
Without qualified officials, our athletes cannot record official times to qualify for County or National events. Becoming an official is the most direct way to ensure fair, professional racing for our swimmers.
Your journey begins as a Timekeeper, progressing to J1 and J2 Judge roles where you will enforce technical stroke mechanics, safe turns, and relay take-offs.
Role Expectations- Willingness to officiate at internal time trials and external open meets.
- Commitment to Swim England’s online theory and poolside assessments.
- High attention to detail and unwavering impartiality.
Welfare Officer
The Welfare Officer is an independent, deeply trusted figure dedicated to championing the safeguarding and emotional wellbeing of our young athletes. You are the first point of contact for concerns regarding a child's welfare.
This role requires a highly approachable demeanor mixed with strict professionalism to ensure adherence to Swim England’s Wavepower regulations.
Role Expectations- Mandatory 'Time to Listen' safeguarding training and thorough DBS check.
- Ability to act independently from coaches and the executive committee.
- High emotional intelligence, empathy, and absolute discretion.
Shop Administrator
The Club Shop Administrator is the engine behind our team's professional identity. You take ownership of our equipment supply chain, ensuring every swimmer looks sharp and has the required training gear.
This is a highly administrative role largely completed from home. You will liaise directly with external suppliers, manage the SCM digital inventory, and track incoming orders.
Role Expectations- Strong digital literacy and comfort utilizing our backend SCM portal.
- Occasional poolside attendance to run 'kit sizing' events.
- Excellent communication skills for updating parents on order timelines.
Sponsorship
Pool time is notoriously expensive. Your efforts directly subsidize lane hire costs, keep monthly fees manageable, and allow us to purchase state-of-the-art equipment. You may also form or join dedicated sub-groups for marketing, fundraising, and sponsorship coordination.
You will leverage networking skills to build mutually beneficial partnerships with local businesses, negotiate corporate sponsorships, and apply for sports development grants.
Role Expectations- Proactive outreach to local businesses in Slough and surrounding areas.
- Experience in writing formal funding applications is highly beneficial.
- Ability to track targets and report financial progress to the committee.
Committee Member
The Executive Committee shapes the club's strategic vision. Elected annually at our September AGM (per Constitution Rule 9.1), you will ensure the club remains legally compliant, financially solvent, and operationally sound.
As a strict non-profit (Constitution Rule 14.3), all surplus funds directly benefit the swimmers. We highly encourage parents with professional experience in business, management, or finance to step forward to help safeguard the club's legacy.

Poolside Volunteering
The perfect entry point for parents looking to dip their toes into club volunteering. Poolside Helpers are the extra set of hands and eyes that allow our coaching staff to focus entirely on technical instruction.
There are a range of granular roles required for smooth operations—from manning a medal table and coordinating swimmers, to distributing kickboards and announcing events over the PA system at a home competition. It requires no prior swimming knowledge—just enthusiasm.
Role Expectations- Commitment to a regular 1 or 2-hour slot during our weekly schedule.
- A willingness to follow the direct instructions of the Lead Coach on duty.
- A great way to observe the training program up close and integrate into the community.
