- Kath Saunders Memorial Meet
This was a fantastic opportunity for the swimmers. The meet was extremely well run and a big thank you to Windsor swimming Club for that. The Final result was a credit to our club, 2nd place was above expectation. Teddington are a very strong club so finishing above them was excellent.
Swimmers should take confidence from this and look forward to the Thames Valley season with very high expectations. The Swimmers were very well behaved, I was very pleased that so many swimmers came to see me before and after races. I only wish that my health had allowed me to stay until the end!! Team Spirit was also excellent. Please remember that at these meets the races allow very little time for swimmers to prepare for the following race, so while it is good practice to warm up in a training costume and change at open meets there really is not time at league meets. It is very worrying for the team managers when the whole of the girls squad vanishes into the changing room just as they are trying to get the swimmers up to the blocks.
There were many fine swims and excellent pb performances . Our starting and turning technique stood out and this is testament to the hard work put in by the swimmers during training. Well done to all the swimmers and Thank you to all the adult helpers,
Paul

All the swimmers were a credit to their club, behaving and swimming very well – thank you to them all.

- Thames Valley Junior League Round One
Dolphins competed in the first round of the Thames Valley Junior League on Saturday night at Amersham. The team came second overall. This was despite being unable to compete in four events due to missing all but one of our ten year old boys. This was compounded further by five DQs, three of which were first placed. So all in all the team had nine races where no points were scored.
The ten year old girls freestyle team of Julia Jemielity, Emma Croker, Amber Harris Kymberley Charlett took first place with Amber also taking first place in the freestyle.
The eleven year old boys team of Harry Good, Edward Williams, Charlie Messenger and Phin Lyman completed a clean sweep of six first places. Edward also won the twelve year old breast stroke swimming up a year.

- Speedo League Round Three
Dolphins competed in their final Speedo League round at Bracknell on Saturday night finishing in a very close second place. This ensures that we are promoted to the 1st Division next season.
Coach Paul Lloyd was 'proud of the performance of all of the swimmers who managed to ammass a total of 217 points between them including a total of sixteen first places'.
Performance coach Bob Pay said he was 'looking forward to next year when the squad will be strengthened further with a few swimmers who were not eligible or available for the final round'.
The 11 year old girls team of Sophie Jobson, Katie Chorley, Molly Griffiths, Marianna Geany and Francesca Wells swam fantastically with five first places between them in their age group. The 11 year old boys team of Harry Good, Charlie Messenger, Edward Williams, Connor Lacey, Laurence Ives and Sam Ford managed four first place finishes. What is particularly encouraging here is that the majority of the boys and girls swimmers will be in the same age category next year.
In the 13 year old age groups there were three first place finishes, one for Daniella Ashfield and two for Marley Farrell. Jordan Hobbs and george Good also swam very well.
In the 15 year old age group there were four first place finishes including two for Ashleigh Lloyd. Ashleigh was joined in the two first place relay events by Hannah Bennett, Rachel Ford, Juliette Ives and Tara Lacey. A special mention has to go to our only fifteen year old boy, James Crowther who swam brilliantly for a second and third place in his individual events.
In the open age groups Hayley Moore and Rosie Ives swam very well finishing consistently in the top three. Ian Smith, James Watson, Paul McNulty and Marice Tsang all swam very well again finishing mostly in the top three places.
This was a great finish to our Speedo season and we look forward to an even stronger performance next year in Division One. Thanks go to all the swimmers, coaches and poolside helpers!

- Speedo League Round 2
In a sentence I can sum up this performance as Slough’s best ever in my time as coach. All the swimmers were magnificent. The support from those helping second was second to none. To win a round of the Speedo league with so many swimmers missing was a fantastic team performance. To mention individual performances would go against the team effort that led us to victory so well done to all the swimmers; every one!!!!
- Asa South East Region Winter Championship 2007
Ashleigh Lloyd and Anna Jemielity represented Slough superbly in this years regional winter championships.
In the 50m Backstroke Anna was the senior Champion and Ashleigh the Junior Champion. Anna went on to swim superbly to win the 200m i/m and the 100m backstroke titles. She also won silver in the 200m backstroke. Ashleigh went on to add junior silvers in the 100m back and 50m Fly events.
What a fantastic performance from the two girls.

- Milton Keynes Open 2006
A small group of swimmers represented Slough very successfully at The City of Milton Keynes Distance meet at the weekend. A big thank you to Andy for all his help over the weekend.
Edward Williams had a very good set of swims in a very tough age group, not least because he was competing in the 9-11 age group as a ten yr old. He swam a gutsy 1500m race and even though he had goggle trouble toward the end of the race he still managed to secure third place. He repeated this success with a third place finish in the 200m freestyle. In all of his events he finished in the top 6.
Marley Farrell swam every event and his gutsy determination produced many pbs. His third place in the 400 I/M was probably his finest swim. He showed very good form in the 200m Fly to record another 3rd place.
Marianna Geany swam a solid 800m event to record a 2nd place. A huge pb in the 200m breast was not quite enough for a podium finish as she finished in 4th place. In the 200m Backstoke she came third with a fantastic pb.
Daniella Ashfield was under the weather but still put in many gutsy performances. Her best was the 200m free where she matched her pb despite being ill. Well done Nelli!
All the swimmers were very well prepared and perfomed well as a team. I look forward to the next open meet in Guildford and expect that we will have a much bigger turn out.

- Success at Rushmoor Royals Open Meet
On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of October SEDSC were represented by 3 swimmers at the Rushmoor Royals long course distance meet. Congratulations to you all.
- SUCCESS IN ROUND 1 OF THE SPEEDO LEAGUE
Slough had a spectacular start to this season’s Speedo league with a convincing win, gaining 211 points, Tilehurst were in 2nd place with 185 ½. The swimmers’ attitude was superb and the team spirit was fantastic. A big thank you to Jane and Christine who managed the team fantastically well.
We had fifteen first place out of 50 races and, apart from the unfortunate D/Qs, we didn’t finish in 6th place once all night. The 11 yr girls and boys both came first in the medley and freestyle relays. Considering that these teams were largely made up of 10 yr olds this was a great achievement. So well done to Francesca, Molly, Katrina, Sophie, Marianna, Harry, Charlie, Ed, Callum and Sam. It was noticeable how well they all did when swimming up in higher ages as well.
Marley and Ashleigh both put in huge effort with 5 individual swims each. They both won their fly and back races in their age groups. Peter Smith swam very controlled races to win the mens open fly and gained 2nd in the mens open free. There were also good wins for Marianna in the 11 yr fly and back. Sophie swam superbly to win the 11yr Free. Not to be outdone Katrina made it a clean sweep of 11yr girls events by winning the breaststroke. Harry won the 11yr free and came second in the back and Ed came 2nd in the Breaststroke, this is amazing by the boys as only 10 yrs old and were swimming in 11 yr old group.
New performance director Bob Pay commented “it was an amazing performance by the swimmers. Slough dominated from start to finish! “
Well done swimmers we look forward to round 2 with confidence.

- SLOUGH SWIMMERS SILVER HAUL AT WYCOMBE MEET
A small group of swimmers had a very successful day at the Wycombe B/C meet on Saturday 23rd September. This was the first swimming meet after the summer break and the swimmers showed good form in their first gala of the new season.
Ten-year-old Connor Lacey was competing in his first open meet and came away with a terrific silver medal in the 100 Butterfly & 2 speeding tickets in 50M Butterfly and 100M Freestyle.
Connor’s sister Tara swam brilliantly to win a Silver medal in the 100 Freestyle and a Bronze medal in 100M Breaststroke. Tara was competing in the 13-14 year old age group.

Jordan Hobbs had three great swims in the 12 year old girls category to gain a Silver medal in 50M Breaststroke and Bronze in 50M Butterfly. Jordan also gained a speeding ticket in the 100M Freestyle.
