Lions Swimathon
On Saturday 12th January we entered three teams in the Swimarathon run by the Lions Club of Maidenhead, this event is to raise money for local charities in the Berkshire area as well as raising money for our own club and Wexham Hospital. We had a fantastic and exciting evening, all the swimmers who took part swam as though they were competing for their country, and there were records to break!!!! And we broke them, our under 12 years of age B team broke a seven year record held by Maidenhead Swimming club, the record was to swim 92, 50metre laps to equal the record and they swam 99 laps setting a new record and still had enough energy to carry on chatting. Our C team consisting of our older age swimmers just missed the record by 2 laps they swam an incredible 104 laps and their record to beat was 106, we will have that record next year!
Our A team which consisted of our younger age group swimmers under 12 and quite a few under 10yrs had never swam or took part in this type of event before were amazing, nothing phased them they were knocking out 50metre swims with ease and enjoying every moment of it, they swam in total 72 50 metre laps, we have certainly got some young Olympians here.
Well done to the following swimmers and the Team Captains who worked so hard with the teams but above all it was fantastic to have our Head Coach Paul Lloyd on poolside who turned up to support us, not just by sitting in the gallery but right behind the teams on poolside, his motivation has certainly been missed at Gala's, so a big thank you to Paul.
There will be a presentation of the cup in April so I will keep you informed of the exact date when I know.

A special mention goes to Harry Laflin who was supposed to swim and collected a lot of sponsorship money but due to a very nasty knee injury was unable to attend.
Could everyone who has not given me their sponsor money please get this collected as quickly as you can?
