Slough and Eton Dolphin are a Swim 21 accredited club which was achieved in 2005. We were the third club in Berks and South Bucks to achieve Swim 21 accreditation.
What is Swim 21?
Swim 21 is the Amateur Swimming Associations club development model and accreditation is given by the ASA. Accreditation incorporates the Clubmark programme of Sport England. It provides a framework for clubs to reach their full potential.
There are four hierarchal levels in respect of the competitive prowess of clubs:
Teaching (lowest)
Skill development
Competitive development
Performance (highest)
For each level there are two standards, silver and gold. Currently one third of ASA clubs have accreditation.
We pursued accreditation at the third level Skill Development:
quality opportunities to develop technical skills in a training environment.
Key qualities are:
Structured links with other clubs
4-7 hours water time per swimmer per week
Qualified ASA Club coach
Structured inter club and county competitions
Talent identification process
What are the benefits that we get as a club?
We achieve best practice in how to operate as a Swimming Club at Skill Development Level according to the ASA
We will be eligible for any future grant aid for courses
We can use the Swim 21 logo
We receive Sport England Clubmark status
We had to prepare files (two lever arch binders) to evidence our compliance with four modules:
Swimmer Development (10 elements)
Teacher/Coach Education & Development (13 elements)
Club Management (19 elements)
