County championship Day 1 As expected the first day of the county championships went very well for all of our swimmers. The team all turned up dressed in correct club kit. Thank you to Jane and Viv for organizing the county T shirts again!! Some of the little ones were very nervous as the first event approached. Well done to the poolside team Jane, Katarina and Andy for helping to keep the swimmers all so settled. It was noticeable that all the swimmers were keeping warm in the correct kit with footwear. This really does make a huge difference. Emma, Kym and Julia all swam new best times in their 100 back – their first swims, and Julia came 2nd for the clubs first medal of the meet. Jade also improved her time and earned a rosette. Hannah and Juliette also managed pb performances. In the boys 100m breast Harry took gold in the 11 age group and Marley took silver in the 14 yrs. He also qualified for the final and improved his time a further 2 seconds in it. Julia swam a fantastic pb to earn her second silver in the 50m free. Marianna swam a pb time to earn her place in the junior final where she swam superbly and finished a very creditable 5th place with a new pb. Oskar improved his 200m back time by 12 seconds to pick up a bronze medal in the 200m event, in a very close finish Harry earned his second gold of the day. There were many pleasing aspects to session 1. The team spirit, preparation and behaviour were exemplaty. Technically the swimmers were all very good. All the discipline and hard work in training is paying dividends. This has been a great start now we should push on and improve even more! Well done all Paul |
