SEDSC Coaching Philosophy
“The correct answer to any swimming question is STREAMLINING!” Slough head coach Paul Lloyd regularly jokes with his swimmers. The reinforcement of this and other fundamental basic principles is at the heart of the clubs coaching philosophy.
Aiming for swimming excellence and the maximizing of each individual swimmer's talent are the aims of the programme. The coaching belief is that the cub will be successful if each swimmer is and their welfare is considered too. The culture on poolside is one of mutual respect. The balance between hard work, core principals of swim technique, fun and team building are kept in balance with a thorough annual training plan.
Each squad in the club has very specific targets. It is closely monitored by the use of swimmer log books. The progression through the club is clearly mapped. This enables each swimmer to aim for their own realistic targets. Equal recognition is given to each target reached relevant to the swimmers aims.
Competition programmes for the season are carefully planned and integrated into the annual training plan. The emphasis is placed on attaining individual targets by following good practice. Good team spirit and sportsmanship are expected at all times.
The coaching team believe very firmly in the concept of swimmer development by nurture and skill development leading to individual and as a result team success.
