Head Coach - Paul Lloyd
After completing education Paul arrived in England with aspirations of becoming a professional Footballer. This unfortunately was not to be. After working for PGL Leisure for a summer at the multi activity sports site Borreatton Park in Shropshire, he took a job at Montem Sports Center. As his swimming classes became so popular he set up Swimwell Swimming Club with Miriam. This 'learn to swim scheme' flourished in spite of the dreadful conditions at Beechwood School. During this time he gained qualifications as a level 3 coach and Tutor. He took on a voluntary assistant coach role at Chalfont Otters Swimming Club . Soon he was offered the opportunity to be the head coach at Slough, and has subsequently gained ASA level 4 coaching status. Paul is currently the County coach is the longest serving coach in the South Bucks and Berkshire county.
Development Coach - Bruce Snodgrass
Born in South Africa, Bruce received a full sports scholarship to the University of Alabama. There he trained with Jonty Skinner, director of Technical Support for the USA National Team and former world 100m freestyle record holder. In the 1989 junior national competition he won two gold medals, two silvers and one bronze. A year later, he broke five national age-group records and went on to win a further two medals at senior level. Forced to retire from competition because of ill health, Bruce turned to coaching and started Tygerberg Aquatics in Cape Town. There he coached various levels of swimmers, from stroke correction to junior and senior national members. His swimmers won more than 20 medals at the South African Junior Nationals and took six at the South African Senior Nationals. He has also developed international medal-winning South African swimmers.
In this country he first worked as a coach for the Lincoln Vulcans and then as head coach for Amersham Swimming Club. He left full time coaching in 2006 but missed coaching. He joined Slough and Eton Dolphins as a part-time coach in October 2007.
Master's Coach - Jeff Tibballs
His first job was as a lifeguard at the now filled in Baylis Lido. From there he was a teacher of swimming for The Billy Woods Swim School and also coached synchronised swimming for the Billy Woods Aquatic Arts Club for around 10 Years. He got involved with coaching when his children started swimming in 1981. As heI became more qualified (Prelim Coach, Club Coach) he was appointed assistant coach looking after one of the junior squads under the watchful eye of Brian Mcguiness who was Chief Coach at the time. After a succession of coaches he became Chief Coach in 1989 through to 1992. In 1992 he changed his full time employment and resigned his post as Chief Coach and took up the position of Masters coach.
Assistant Coach - Viv Hobbs
She swam competitively from the age of 12 to 23. She reached District & National level and represented Oxon & North Bucks County regularly at swimming and running. She was county champion at 100 & 200 Backstroke, 200 & 400 IM and Southern Counties Biathlon champion.
After leaving college she moved to Ealing from Oxfordshire and taught swimming full time so she could continue to train & work. She qualified as a swimming teacher up to advanced level and worked at Gurnell pool for The London Borough of Ealing. She continued to train with London Borough of Ealing swim squad under Coach Laurie Dormer.
She later moved to The London Borough of Hounslow under coach Malcolm Staight and taught local schools, competitive feeder squads Heston Hurricanes and Feltham Frogs, qualified as a preliminary coach and continued to swim competitively under Malcolm.
She gave up swimming through injury at 23 and changed career. She became involved in the sport again when her daughter Jordan began to swim competitively.
